    　　陳寶珠(毛舜筠飾)是一率直爽朗的女督察，與李祖蔭(林保怡)飾結婚六年，祖事業有成而不滿珠之工作，要求珠辭職，令珠困擾不已。珠工作上認識線人成大志(夏雨飾)，成是在賭場做圍場的小人物,曾因維護母親而入獄，以致失去了前途及舊情人任盈盈(文雪兒飾)，雖成母欲撮合成與郭有珍(胡美儀飾)，但終不成。　　珠偶知祖風流成性而要求離婚，祖不肯，二人遂以婚姻做賭注，夫婦更以「人類的操守」大起爭執.. 后決定以大志為目標，作一賭局。大志因欲開甜品屋，遂答應寶珠作一個月之住家工人，二人由斗氣至產生感情，令寶珠甚為矛盾。大志終為珠贏得賭注，祖蔭與寶珠離婚，祖蔭對大志亦因而含恨在心。及后他的甜品屋被縱火，更懷疑是祖蔭所為，令二人誤會更深。后祖蔭被綁架，大志被他指證為主謀，大志百辭莫辯，究竟大志最后能否洗脫不白之冤？，而寶珠對大志的感情最終又會如何抉擇呢？
