19歲的鮑勃·迪倫（提莫西·查拉梅 Timothée Chalamet 飾）背著吉他，從明尼蘇達來到紐約西村，他的民謠歌曲得到了偶像的賞識和樂迷的青睞，原本寂寂無名的鮑勃迅速成為紐約民謠界炙手可熱的新星。1965年的紐波特民謠音樂節上，鮑勃·迪倫首次在舞臺上使用了電吉他，不僅顛覆了民謠音樂的定義，更重新書寫了美國音樂的未來。
